Privacy Policy

Tiny Tapes is operated by Tiny Tapes LLC. Where this policy says "we," "us," or "Tiny Tapes," it means that business.

• Your email address, if you sign up through the newsletter form at the bottom of the homepage or through the 20% off popup.
• Your phone number, if you choose to add it on the 20% off popup's text alerts step, or if you give it at Shopify checkout.
• Your name, email, star rating, and review text, if you submit a product review.
• Anything you send us directly, such as a support email.

We never see or store your full card number. Checkout and payment are handled entirely by Shopify, and your card details go straight to them, not to us.

We use PostHog to understand how people use the site: pages viewed, buttons clicked, previews played, and similar interaction data. PostHog reads a Do Not Track signal from your browser and stops tracking you if it is turned on.

We use a Meta advertising pixel to measure how our ads perform and to show Tiny Tapes ads to people likely to be interested, based on how they use this site.

Your shopping cart is stored in your browser, not on our servers, so it is tied to the specific device and browser you are using.

If you opt into text messages, we also detect when you add items to a cart or start a checkout on this site, so we can send you cart reminders. This uses the same cart and checkout activity described above, tied to your email address or phone number, and you can stop these reminders at any time by replying STOP to any text we send.

• To process your order, deliver your digital download, and email you a license key if you bought software.
• To send order confirmations and, separately, marketing email if you sign up for it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
• To answer support questions.
• To measure and improve the site and our ads.
• To prevent fraud and abuse of the store.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with the following companies, each for the specific job listed:

• Shopify: runs checkout, processes payment, and stores your order.
• Shopify Messaging: sends the marketing text messages you opt into, as described below.
• Klaviyo: sends the marketing emails you sign up for, and saves your phone number if you opt into text alerts. For the countries listed in the SMS section below, the texts themselves are sent through Shopify Messaging instead of Klaviyo.
• PostHog: processes on-site analytics.
• Meta: processes advertising and ad-measurement data from the pixel described above.
• Judge.me: stores and displays the reviews customers submit.
• A license-key backend that issues and looks up software licenses tied to your order.

We use a small number of cookies: to remember your cart, to remember whether you are viewing the mobile or desktop version of the site, and for the analytics and advertising described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site, like the cart, need them to work.

If you choose to add a phone number, on the 20% off popup's text alerts step or at Shopify checkout, we use it to send you the marketing text messages you opted into, such as cart reminders and offers. For numbers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Sweden, those texts are sent through Shopify Messaging, under the sender name TINYTAPES for United Kingdom and European numbers. For every other country, your number is saved to your Klaviyo profile, but we cannot send you texts there yet. We never use your phone number for a call or a text outside that marketing program without telling you first.

We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or your SMS opt in status with any third party for their own marketing. We only share it with the messaging providers above, whose one job is delivering the text on our behalf.

Adding a phone number is never a condition of buying anything. You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any text we send, or by emailing us at the address below. See the Terms of Service for the full SMS program terms, including message frequency and rates.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, Tiny Tapes LLC is the data controller for your phone number and the SMS program described here. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the methods above, and you can ask us about the data we hold on you by emailing tinytapeshelp@gmail.com.

We sell worldwide, and the companies listed above are based in different countries, including the United States. That means your information may be processed outside the country you live in.

We keep order and payment records for seven years, which is how long Canadian accounting, tax, and legal rules require us to. We keep marketing email addresses until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, we keep a phone number until you reply STOP or ask us to delete it, and we keep support emails while your issue is open and for a reasonable period afterward.

Tiny Tapes is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

• Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any email we send.
• Stop marketing text messages at any time by replying STOP to any text we send, or reply HELP for help.
• Ask what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing tinytapeshelp@gmail.com. We keep what we are required to keep for orders, tax, or legal reasons.

We rely on Shopify, Klaviyo, and our other providers to secure the data they process for us, and we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold ourselves. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee it.

This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada, and any dispute is handled in the courts of Ontario.

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
